THE STEERING GROUP.
The Steering Group consists of 12 volunteers from the community, representing a wide range of experience and interests. The current NDP Steering Group members are:
I have owned a house in Salcombe since 2006 but have been visiting the town and local area with my family for over 30 years. With a background in business consultancy and the management of major real estate projects both in the UK and abroad, I hope to be able to contribute to assisting all those who have Salcombe's best interests at heart to get their voice heard and to directly influence the future development of the community.
Salcombe has been a key part of my life for over 50 years. I am married with three children and three grandchildren. My wife and I honeymooned at the old Marine Hotel and we have continued to enjoy many family holidays in Salcombe. I retired from my career in banking and finance in 2009 and have been a second homeowner for 11 years. I have always been keen to put something back into Salcombe and becoming a member of the Steering Group is one of the ways of achieving this aim.
I have lived in Salcombe for 34 years and have been a business owner for 32 years. I have a background in engineering and have served as a volunteer for the Salcombe RNLI. I have noticed a constant lack of employment space for the growth of local businesses or for new start-ups and that’s my main motivation for volunteering to join the SG. I want to ensure local business people have their say.
I was born and bred in Salcombe but left to pursue my career as a Chartered Accountant. I have always kept close links with Salcombe and returned to live permanently 4 years ago. I am now semi-retired although I still work part time from home. I am currently the Town Mayor of Salcombe, the treasurer of Salcombe RFC, a trustee and founder of Salcombe Estuary Rowing Club and a member of the Town Regatta committee. I want to ensure that housing in Salcombe is available to all levels and that affordable housing means that it is truly affordable.
